ABC Music & Me classes are currently being offered at Collierville Christian Academy, Kingsway Childcare & Learning Center, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Preschool.

The importance of music in a preschool or daycare curriculum cannot be stressed enough. Research has shown that music engages the neurons in many different areas of the brain, reinforcing so many other skills. Music improves a child’s ability to think, reason, create, and express.

ABC Music & Me is a program especially designed for preschool or daycare settings, where children attend classes without their parents. Families get home materials to reinforce the skills covered in class. These materials include a CD, a family activity magazine, and an instrument every other month.

In addition to musical development, we work on fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, social, language, and emotional development. Language and speech development are enhanced through the repetition of songs and chants. Dances, musical games, and activities with a steady beat help develop motor skills and basic timing.

Playing musical instruments contributes to the development of fine motor skills, and listening to music enhances auditory perception and discrimination. Circle dances and other group activities enhance social and emotional development.

We also reinforce cognitive skills such as colors, numbers, letter and shape recognition, classifying, patterning, and counting.

In the 4 - 6 year old curriculum, pre-keyboarding skills are a focus.

In Kindermusik, we set out to provide musical experiences that will enhance the development of the whole child. The more music a child is exposed to, the better.
